IS GUIDING RIGHT FOR YOU

Who Is Guiding For?

Our private resort guiding is best suited to confident intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders who want to explore more of Myoko’s powder, trees and freeride terrain.

You should be able to control your speed, link turns confidently and ride groomed runs without assistance. Previous powder or tree-riding experience is helpful, but not always essential.

Guiding is ideal for guests who want to discover better terrain, avoid wasting time searching the mountain and make the most of the conditions on the day.

If you are a beginner or want structured technical instruction, a private lesson will be the better option.

Ride Myoko Like a Local

Resort Guiding vs Backcountry Touring

Our guiding focuses on lift-accessed resort terrain and permitted resort sidecountry. with local knowledge of where conditions are best on the day. Terrain selection and safety-equipment requirements depend on conditions, resort regulations and the planned route.

It does not include ski touring, mountaineering, extended backcountry travel or multi-day alpine objectives, but we can point you to specialist local backcountry operators.

Where We Guide

FIND YOUR TERRAIN

Myoko offers a wide mix of terrain, from open powder fields and mellow tree runs to steeper freeride zones and long mountain laps. We choose the best resort for your group based on ability, snowfall, weather, visibility and operating conditions on the day. If you have limited transportation, then we can plan to ride the resort nearest to you for convenience.

Ikenotaira

Best for: Confident intermediate riders, first-time powder skiers and snowboarders, and guests progressing into easier tree terrain.

A great option for riders new to powder, trees and ungroomed terrain. Ikenotaira has wide runs, a relaxed layout and plenty of space to build confidence away from the busiest slopes.

Level Up with Escape Myoko

We guide across the four main resorts of the Myoko ski area: Akakura OnsenAkakura KankoSuginohara, and Ikenotaira. Based on conditions and your goals, we’ll choose the best resort for the day.

Depends. Some of our guides are certified instructors and can provide technique tips and freeride coaching throughout the day. However, the primary focus of a guiding session is terrain exploration rather than structured instruction. If you want technique coaching then you are better to book an advance lesson with one of our instructors.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your session starts. This gives you enough time to purchase lift tickets, check gear, and complete a short safety briefing. We aim to get on the lifts early to make the most of the conditions.

No. Avalanche safety equipment is not included in the guiding fee.

No. Lift passes are not included in the guiding price.

All our sessions are private, with a maximum of 4 people per guide.

If your group has 4 people or fewer, you can all share the same session with one guide. Individuals or small groups of 1–2 cannot join existing sessions and will need to book their own guide, as we do not mix bookings with other groups.

Our guiding is resort and sidecountry-based, not full backcountry touring. We help you find the best terrain, snow and lines within and just outside resort boundaries. For committing backcountry or multi-day alpine objectives, we can recommend specialist local operators.

Your booking confirmation will include the meeting points for each resort. We will confirm the recommended resort and final meeting location the night before your guiding session. Meeting points are normally near the main ticket office at the resort base.
