It Started with One Japan Snow Season
What started as a spontaneous post-wedding move quickly became something much bigger. We came to Japan in search of a simple holiday home—and somehow left with the keys to a 12-bedroom ski lodge. That one impulsive decision changed everything.
Fueled by a shared love of travel, snowboarding, and meeting people from all walks of life, we jumped in headfirst. What followed was a blur of deep powder days, language barriers, late-night DIYs, and some of the most unforgettable moments of our lives.
Escape Myoko is the story of that leap—and how one snow season in northern Japan planted the seed for something far beyond what we’d imagined. We’re stoked to now share it with you.
Our Values
Founded in 2018, Escape Myoko is a family-run business built on a love of snow, travel and shared experiences. What started as a spontaneous leap quickly turned into a dream realised, grounded in warmth, hospitality and the values we live by.
There’s something about Myoko that gets under your skin. The legendary powder might be what draws you in, but it’s the feeling of connection — to the mountains, the people and the pace of life — that makes you want to stay. After years of chasing winters around the world, we kept coming back to Japan. Eventually, we stopped leaving.
Now we bring our own style and spirit to this special alpine village, creating a space where guests can slow down, feel at home and reconnect with what really matters. Our mission is simple: make every stay meaningful, memorable and just a little bit magical.
We care deeply about sustainability, responsible tourism and supporting the local community, while always keeping things relaxed, real and family first.
